
| FALL 2008 AUDITIONS Please read the below information and the FAQ's! Auditions for Primo Dance Troupe will be held Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 7pm-9pm in SRF (Student Recreational Facility 737 S. Halsted St.) across the street from Student Center East. Please arrive early to sign-in, get your picture taken, and receive a number. You must bring your I-card to gain entry into the building. There will be signs posted to direct you to the correct studio (Multipurpose Suite). FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT AUDITIONS IS PRIOR DANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY? No, however Primo's audition process involves an across the floor section and learning a routine in which prior dance experience would be helpful. Primo's regular practice time is primarily devoted to learning routines and developing existing technique. We do not teach troupe members how to dance. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? Please dress in proper dance attire. Your clothing should not hinder your movement. No ieans please. If you do not have dance shoes, please wear athletic shoes. WHERE IS THE DANCE STUDIO IN SRF? The Multipurpose Suite is located on the first floor next to the rock climbing wall. On the day of the audition, there will be signs posted with arrows leading you in the direction of the audition. WHAT WILL THE AUDITION CONSIST OF? The following is time schedule of a typical Primo audition. Please note that the times are subject to change. 6:45-7:00 p.m. Sign-in and receive a number 7:00-7:10 p.m. Warm-up led by Primo Captain 7:10-7:30 p.m. Across the floor combinations 7:30-8:15 p.m. Learn audition routine 8:20-9:00 p.m. Audition the routine in groups WHAT STYLE OF DANCE IS THE AUDITION ROUTINE? The audition routine is a short hip-hop routine. CAN AUDITIONS PARTICIPANTS BRING THEIR OWN ROUTINES TO SHOW? Yes. All audition participants are welcome to bring up to a minute of their own routine to show us at the end of their audition. Preparing a routine is strongly recommended if you are a more technical dancer (ballet, modern, lyrical, ethnic, etc.) so that we can see your dance ability. If you choose to bring a routine, please make sure that it does not exceed ONE MINUTE and that your music is on a CD. If you have any other skills you would like to demonstrate such as turns, jumps, or splits, there will be time to show these skills also. HOW AND WHEN WILL AUDITION RESULTS BE POSTED? The results of the audition will be emailed to each audition participant by 11:00 p.m. on the day that you auditioned. IS THERE AN ALTERNATE AUDITION DATE? Unfortunately we to do not have the resources to offer an alternate audition dates or times. If you are unable to attend these auditions, please check our website in January for the Spring 2009 audition dates.
